DISTRICT BULL SALES UNDER WAY
by Debbie Gregory

A LINW-UP of sound, meaty bulls were met by a small buying bench at the 80th Wilencote Polled Hereford Stud auction sale at Ngatapa yesterday.
|
Peter and Susie Humphreys were pleased with the sale of eighteen bulls for an average of $3,194. Three sires were passed in.
The average was up a fraction from last year's $2,945 average for 22 bulls sold.
Mr Humphreys said at Wilencote they have tried to do simple things as well as they could. "We are looking for good structure, fertility...... We're just sticking to the basics."
PGG Wrightson stud auctioneer Neville Clark said Humphreys could sell their bulls with confidence. The beef market looked good "The dollar might be fluffing around but the meat market stays the same...The world is still growing and is still short of meat".
The top selling bull went to Marumoko Station for $4,800.
