WILENCOTE'S - 76th ANNUAL BULL SALE by Debbie Gregory
Wilencote's Peter Humphreys was more than happy with the 76th annual sale of polled Hereford bulls held at the farm yesterday (Tuesday, June 7).
The 27 bulls sold for an average of $4230, a slightly higher average compared with last year. But seven fewer bulls were sold.
Wrightson livestock manager Neville Clark said that while there were not as many bulls sold, it was a good sale and a sound line of cattle was presented. Wilencote's top sire Wisconsin had left his mark and there wer easy-doing bulls offered with rib and rump and lots of constitution, he said.
Mr Humphreys said it had been a bit tough on the cattle early in the year when it was a bit dry but the bulls had come on quite a bit over the last three months. Of the 42 bulls in the catalogue, five were pulled out and 11 were passed in.
